Above, a cross. Fitted with a loop. (The two ships went out to attack the Japanese fleet, but were forced back into Chemulpo where their commander Captain Rudnev sank them to save capture.)
The Battle of Chemulpo Bay was an early naval battle in the Russo-Japanese War (1904--1905), which took place on 9 February 1904, off the coast of present-day Incheon, Korea.
